Greetings welcome reader!!
This is the first post of many, I hope. To start things out let me introduce myself. I am what you might call "a regular" guy. I am 40 years old, have a full time job and a woman that loves and respects me, as I do her. That being said, the reason I am starting this blog is to track my progress and insights regarding my basement.
I have always wanted a basement. I have been a renter all of my life and am very close to closing on my first house. My lady and I have been looking at houses for 3 months now. We currently reside in an apartment that we both despise. We are very excited. The house that we have chosen has a basement, a large one that is finished so to speak. Carpet and such. I am very excited about this.
I think that I am a regular guy, I drink a few beers now and then and plan on using my basement as a get away so to speak. I have relinquished the upstairs to my better half, so the basement is mine.
A little background on me I think is in order. I am really into music. All kinds actually. I do not play an instrument as of yet, but, I think I may start.
On to the music collection. I have a fairly large collection of records, CD's, cassette tapes, concert DVD's, music video's etc. I plan on housing my collection in my basement and display it. I am very passionate about this. I have a rather large and extensive home stereo. By extensive I mean components. Amplifiers, pre-amps, etc. This one fact has lead to many arguments with my lady. This basement will solve that.
So, that's it. I have had the house inspected and everything is up to speed. My real estate agent has informed me that we may close in 2 weeks. My lady and I have alot of packing to do. How we managed to cram so much crap into a 1200 sq. ft. apartment is beyond me, but we did. I do plan on building a bar in the basement, and perhaps a home theater. I will post pics of this when I have something to take pictures of, as of yet, I do not own the basement yet. I am hopeful.
So bare with me valued reader, and buckle up, this may be a bumpy ride.
