Trying To Quit

I went out and picked up some nicotine gum. Now, I tried this shit out about 15 years ago and it didn't work. It tasted like shit as well. This new stuff seems to be doing the trick so far, it also don't taste that bad. I am very hopefull. Fucking smokes cost and arm and a leg now. The fuckers also raised the taxes on booze. I can quit smoking I think, I know I can't do without my beer. The real test will be when I have a few, probably tomorrow. That's the start of my weekend. I read somewhere it will take my body 15 years to return to the state that it was before I started. I have been smoking for about 20 years now. I know this is in my head, but, I do feel like I have a little more energy. I don't think I will start feeling anything major for a few weeks. I think the little energy burst I have going is due to trying to meet my goals, and completing them. I can't believe it. If I go 24 hours without a cig, that would be the first time in 20 years that I have not had a cig for that long. I am going to try very hard to get past this. I don't want to be a slave to these fuckers anymore.

Burned Out

Well the lady will be back in a few days. I go to pick her up from the bus station on Friday. She does not like flying, so she takes the bus. I would rather drive/fly. Screw Greyhound. I would have drove her, but did not want to waste my vacation time. I plan on taking her on a cruise this winter maybe, or Disneyworld. I have always wanted to go see Disneyworld. I'm not sure what we are going to do this winter. I do know tat we are going on a "real" vacation. Something we both have never done. Maybe Vagas, hehe, I'm all over the board on this one. I really don't know where we are going. I do know that we are staying in the country.

I'm pretty burned out. Been doing alot of drinking in the basement. I went out and purchased new monitors for both of us. Got a good deal on 2 twenty inch flat panel ones for 148 bucks each. This monitor is choice. I did not want to buy anything that would encourage my ladies computer use, but I broke down. I wanted one, and didn't want her feeling left out, so it's a surprise for her when she returns. I think she will like it.

We are both going to go and pick out a riding lawn mower probably next week. I'm waiting for her because she is the one that is going to be using it. I don't do yard work....hehe. I'm a lazy ass. We need one, the yard is huge, and the lawn guy does do a good job, but charges 45 bucks each time he mows. That can get pretty expensive if we get alot of rain like we have been getting.

I'm still planning on making my bar, into a karoke bar. Just need to pick up the equipment. Well i'm gonna close this now. I'm getting kinda hungry, I may go get some KFC, I don't feel like cooking.

Just Me & The Dog

Well, it's just me an the dog. My lady wanted to go up north to see her kids and spend Easter with them. The house feels kinda empty without her here. It's only for a week. We will manage. I feel for the dog though. I work 12 hour shifts a couple days a week, so that means he is here by himself. He's a trooper, he ain't had no accidents yet. He's a good dog.

The whole reason I did not get a dog when I was single was because I did not want to leave him home by himself. Dogs are people animals. To leave a dog locked up in a house for long periods alone is torture for them, I think anyways.

My lady will be gone for about 1 1/2 weeks. It's strange really. I did not think I would miss her this much, but I do. I ain't downed any beers yet. I will have to wait for the weekend. I'm looking forward to that. I can listen to the tunes as loud as I want. I'm gonna rock out with my cock out, so to speak!!!

I plan on doing a few things in the house to surprise my lady when she gets home. She has been on me about hanging curtains in the living room. I think I will do that, I hope I choose the right color though. You know how chicks are. The one mission I do have though is her 7 little lemon trees. I can not forget about those.

I am proud of her because of those. See, she went and got a lemon from the store, got the seeds and planted them. They lived!! I could not believe it. She has 7 little lemon trees in little pots in her room. There were 8, but one died. The 7 that are left are pretty good size now, I think they will survive. I hope. If I kill those off, my lady will string me up.

Well, the dog is humping my leg to go outside. I gotta go. Further updates to follow.

I'm still thinking of going out and getting that 42' TV for the basement. Not sure yet. There is nothing here to stop me. I'll face the music when she gets home if I get it. One thing I have come to learn. It is easier to get forgiveness than permission. Not that I would need permission from my lady for it. She just would like me to spend the cash on things for the upstairs.

Things

Well, I have been thinking of getting into another hobby (besides drinking). I do have a 2 car garage, and am not using 1 side of it. I would love to get an old Firebird and fix it up. I don't know that much about cars. Just enough to be dangerous. Been thinking of getting an old beater to learn from. Today's cars or nothing but electronics, so, I would need to get one from the 70's or early 80's probably. That don't bother me. I would love to get a 70's era Trans Am.

As far as the basement goes. It is almost where I want it to be. I just would like to get a 40-42 inch TV to hang on the wall and that will be a reality in a few months. I'm saving my pennies so to speak. I'm not the "go out and max out the card" type of person. I don't like to be in debt. My way of thinking is, if you can't afford to buy, don't. Simple as that. Hence, saving my pennies. I pick up the occasional record or cd at garage sales and crap. I'm always on the lookout for those. Not doing the ebay thing no more. I did get a few good deals, but, I'm not looking there any longer.

Craigslist is out. The people on there are idiots. They seem to think anything that Elvis or the Beatles did is pure gold. That simply is not the case. They want big bucks for crap. There are no used record shops in my town, so to go to any of those I gotta drive for an hour. Fuck that. I'll save the gas.

Speaking of Elvis, I'm thinking of taking the lady to Graceland this summer. I'm really looking forward to that. I have never been there. I don't think she is looking forward to it. She would much rather waste her life away logged into that dam game. I do not have any problem with going without her. If that's what she wants, so be it. I sound a little angry towards her, which I am not. She stays out of the basement and my hair, so I don't mind, really. I've told her in that past what I think of that game. She is well aware of my feelings regarding it. I have even told her to take a step back, turn of the computer and look at what she has. All of that time she has wasted, and just look at what she has, nothing. Icons on a computer screen. That is what she has.

I'm ranting on this. I just needed to vent a bit. I have made my mind up. I am going to buy an old 70's era Trans Am. Put it in the other side of the garage, and fix it up. First things first. I need to build a work bench. I have that all figured out.

The Day The Earth Stopped

I just sat through this piece of crap. First off. I was aware that this was NOT The Day The Earth Stood Still. I have heard that the makers of this movie make similar movies with similar titles to Hollywood Big Budget movies. For example Transmorphers/Transformers. You get the idea.

To say this movie is crap is an understatement. I looked at the box art in the video store. It looks cool. A giant robot or Mech standing in a city waiting to rock the place. Looks pretty cool. Well, that's all these big fuckers do. Stand there. I realize that judging a movie by box art is a turkey shoot at best. But come on....why else have a big robot? (to put it on the front of the box, and have stupid fuckers like me spend 4 clams to rent it, I guess) If he ain't going to smash something it's a waste.

The only redeeming quality this movie has is the babe. She is Hot!! With a capital H. You get to see her tits at the start of the flick, but that's it. Nothing else.

This movie could have been alot better if they would have wanted to spend a little money to put some destruction in there, by the robots of course...but nope, nada, nothing. They look like big paper weights.

Don't get me wrong. I like low budget movies. I am a big fan of "cheesy" kung fu movies. The types like they used to show on Black Belt Theater back in the 80's and crap like that. I am surprised this has not been shown on the Sci Fi channel yet.

It may end up there, when they soak as much as they can out or rentals. I am really happy I did not purchase this skunk. The robots do look cool though, and the chick is a winner. Other than that. Don't waste your time. Go watch Goodfellas.

It's Been Awhile

I'm back, so to speak. Been doing alot of thinking lately. Been doing alot of drinking too....LOL!!!

The basement is perfect. I still don't have it set up the way I would like, but it's getting there. So far the first part of 09 has been pretty rough. We had an ice storm a week ago and were without power for 5 days. I live in a rural area and it was colder than shit in the house. I was unprepared. We lost power on a Tuesday night. I thought nothing of it and went to sleep thinking the power would be back in the morning. Boy was I wrong. My whole town was out and they were saying that it could take up to a week for full restoration.

The temps outside were in the teens at best and below at night. I had to find a way to heat my house or we would freeze to death, not to mention the pipes would burst. I didn't have the money for a generator, so I decided on getting a couple kerosene heaters.

Now, the whole town was out, the whole area was out. I think I would have had a better chance hitting the lotto than buying a kerosene heater. I had this lame brained idea I would try candles.......ya I know. My lady said the same thing. I went out and got about 80 candles, needles to say they didn't work. A friend of mine did not have power as well, but he had 2 gas fireplaces. He invited me and the lady over, I declined because of our dog. He is a real asshole to strangers. My buddy did have 2 kerosene heaters though. He let me borrow them.

Man. Those heaters saved my ass. It was toasty warm in our pad. I went over a couple times and checked on our neighbors, he went out a got a generator. They were cool. Everybody else on our street split. So that week was boring as hell. I had this little black and white TV powered by batteries that we were watching and shit. I didn't drink no beers. Was going too, but figured I better keep my wits in case something happened.

Well, we have now had our power back on for 3 days. I am still a little worried about losing it again. Those heaters are standing at the ready if I do, along with the little TV.

This is never going to happen again. I WILL BE PREPARED!!

That's it. Gotta work tonight, this is my Monday, so tossing back a few is gonna have to wait.

I just hope the power remains stable.

Well, it's been awhile since my last post. Been doing some imbibing in the basement. Not alot mind you. I have been busy getting crap ready for Christmas, now that it's over I can rest. My girl had the whole upstairs decked out. I could not believe it. I kept asking her where she had all of the crap at? We did not have this much put up last year in the shit hole. But all things aside. We had a pretty good Christmas. I got exactly what I wanted. 4 brand spanking new tires for my truck!!!! I needed them. My girl asked me last month what I wanted, that's what I said. She did'nt want to buy them for me, but I persisted. I dropped about 350 bucks on her and the dog. We had a good Christmas. Now I have New Years and our birthdays to look forward too. We ain't doing anything for New Years, we are gonna stay home. I may get ripped, I'm not sure yet. I probably will have a couple dozen beers, probably. Whats really cool is our birthdays. They are right after one another. Hers first, then mine the next day. I ain't shitting you. Well, I'm at work posting this. So I'm signing off. I may do a live broadcast New Years on my radio station, who knows. Well time for some coffee!
